Council Privacy Policy
Council is a group-chat companion. Your privacy matters to us, so this policy is short and honest.

The short version
By default, Council works entirely offline using built-in persona responses — nothing leaves your device. If you choose to add your own Claude or Gemini API key, your conversations are sent to that provider to generate richer replies.
What Council stores
Your situations, threads, personas, and persona memory are saved only on your iPhone using SwiftData. There is no account and no server of our own.
Optional cloud AI (your own key)
If you enter your own Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini) API key in Settings, the content you share and the persona’s system prompt are sent to that provider to generate a reply. This is entirely optional and off by default.
Your API key is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device, never on our servers.
Each provider has its own privacy practices governing what they do with the request.
Chat imports & screenshots
If you import a chat export or a screenshot for context, that content is processed on-device (and sent to your chosen AI provider only if cloud AI is enabled) — never uploaded to us.
Children
Council is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect data from children.
