Dewy Privacy Policy

Dewy is a skincare companion made with love. Your privacy matters to us, so this policy is short and honest.

Last updated: 17 July 2026

The short version

Dewy has no accounts. Your skincare data — quiz answers, routine, check-ins, photos, and shelf — stays on your device, and we never see it.

Two things do leave your phone: a small amount of anonymoususage data (such as which onboarding step you stopped on), and — only when you choose to scan a product — the product’s barcode. Both are explained below.

What Dewy stores

Everything you create in Dewy — your quiz answers, skin type, personalized routine, Glow Score, streak, skin check-ins and life tags, water log, shelf and wishlist, and settings — is saved only on your iPhone, in the app’s private storage. We have no accounts and no server that holds your content, and we never see any of it.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand where people get stuck — for example, which onboarding step someone leaves on — Dewy sends a small amount of anonymous usage data to a private dashboard we run ourselves. This is how we find and fix confusing parts of the app.

What is sent:

  • A random, anonymous IDcreated on your device. It is not your name, email, Apple ID, or account, it isn’t linked to any of them, and we can’t use it to identify you.
  • Which step you reached — for example that an onboarding page appeared, that onboarding finished, that the subscription screen was shown or closed, or that a purchase completed — and when.
  • Basic technical context — the app version and how many seconds a session lasted.

What is never sent:

  • Your quiz answers, skin profile, routine, check-ins, progress photos, or shelf — none of your skincare data.
  • Your name, email address, Apple ID, or payment details.
  • Any advertising identifier — Dewy contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

This data goes only to our own private dashboard, stored in a database hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to build a profile of you. We use no third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics or Facebook.

Legal basis (GDPR). We rely on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding and improving the app, using data that is anonymous and kept to the minimum needed. You have the right to object to this at any time — just email us at support@iosvisual.com.

Camera & progress photos

If you take progress photos, they are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us. The camera is used solely to capture a photo you choose to take, or to scan a product barcode. You can also pick existing photos from your library instead.

Dewy never sends your photos anywhere, and does not use them for anything other than showing them back to you inside the app.

Scanning products (Scan & decode)

When you scan or enter a product barcode, Dewy looks it up so it can show the product’s name, image, and ingredients. To do this, the barcode number is sent to trusted third-party product databases:

  • Open Beauty Facts — an open, community-run cosmetics database (for ingredients).
  • UPCitemdb — a product barcode database (for the product name and image).

Only the barcode is sent — never your name, your skin profile, or any of your personal data. These lookups happen only when you actively scan or enter a barcode. Each service has its own privacy practices governing the request. The matching of a product to your skin then happens on your device.

Important: not medical advice

Dewy is a skincare and self-care tool only. It does not provide medical or dermatological advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Routines, ingredient notes, product matches, and Glow Scores are general informational suggestions, not professional guidance. Always talk to a qualified dermatologist or doctor about skin conditions, allergies, or reactions, and patch-test new products.

Notifications

If you turn on routine, water, or check-in reminders, Dewy schedules those notifications locally on your device. No reminder content ever leaves your phone.

Purchases (Glow+)

Glow+ subscriptions are handled entirely by Applethrough the App Store. Dewy uses Apple’s StoreKit to check whether you have an active subscription. We never see your name, payment details, or Apple ID. Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Children

Dewy is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children — the only data the app sends is the anonymous usage data described above, which cannot identify anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
