Lexi Privacy Policy

The data controller for Lexi is Iosvisual (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@iosvisual.com. For advertising in the iPhone app, Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects (see “Advertising” below).

The entire dictionary ships inside the app, so every lookup happens locally with no connection. Your search history, saved words, lesson progress, and settings are stored only on your device. We have no account system and no server of our own, and we never receive, upload, or sell what you look up.

• Mac app — no ads, no advertising SDK, no purchases, and no data collection of any kind. It is a fully offline, sandboxed app.
• iPhone app — shows ads through Google AdMob and offers an optional Lexi Pro subscription that removes them. Everything in the advertising sections below applies to the iPhone app only.

The iPhone app displays ads using Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. To serve and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

• A device advertising identifier (on iOS, the IDFA, only if you allow tracking).
• Your IP address and coarse, approximate location derived from it.
• Device and app information (device type, operating system, app version, language).
• Ad interaction data (which ads were shown, viewed, or tapped).

Google uses this data to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance, and — only with your consent — to personalise the ads you see. We never share the words you look up or save with Google or any advertiser. Ads are also kept out of the way: they never appear on a word entry or inside a lesson.

• EU / EEA / UK consent.The first time you open the iPhone app, a consent screen (provided through Google’s consent tools) lets you choose whether ads can be personalised. You can change or withdraw this choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices in the app.
• Apple App Tracking Transparency.iOS will ask for permission before your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for tracking. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised.
• Reset or limit your ad ID. You can reset your advertising identifier or turn off personalised ads in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising.
• Remove ads entirely. Subscribing to Lexi Pro turns ads off, or you can use the Mac app, which has never had them.

Declining personalised ads does not stop you from using any feature of Lexi.

Lexi Pro is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details or your Apple ID — Apple only tells the app whether your subscription is active.

• Consent(Art. 6(1)(a)) — for personalised advertising and any use of your device’s advertising identifier.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for showing basic, non-personalised ads and keeping the app secure and functioning. You can object to this at any time.

Google may process advertising data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA or UK, Google relies on legal safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.

Your on-device content stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Advertising data collected by Google is retained by Google according to its own retention policies. We do not hold copies of it.

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you have the right to:

• access, correct, or delete personal data held about you;
• restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
• data portability; and
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because your searches and saved words live only on your device, you can exercise access and deletion for them directly in the app. For advertising data held by Google, you can use Google’s own privacy controls, or contact us at support@iosvisual.com and we’ll help.

Lexi is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will address it.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be noted in the app.
