Vast Privacy Policy

Vast looks through the files on your Mac, so it's fair to ask what it does with what it finds. The answer is: nothing leaves your computer.

Last updated: 31 July 2026

The short version

Vast has no accounts, no ads, and no server. Everything it finds about your files stays on your Mac — we never see your filenames, your folders, or anything inside them.

How scanning works

To show you what’s using your disk, Vast reads file names, sizes, dates, and locations on your Mac. This happens entirely on your computer, and the results are held only for as long as the app is open.

Vast does not read the contents of your documents, photos, or messages — it only needs to know how big a file is and where it lives.

Sandboxed by design

Vast is a sandboxedMac app built with Apple’s own security model. It can only look at the locations macOS permits and the folders you explicitly grant it. It does not run with administrator privileges and it does not install any background helper or system extension.

No network, no telemetry

Vast does not send analytics, crash reports, usage statistics, or any other data to us or to anyone else. There is no advertising SDK and no tracking of any kind. Nothing about your disk, your files, or your habits is transmitted anywhere.

What happens when you clean

When you clean something, Vast stages it so it can be put back rather than destroying it outright — the files stay on your own Mac throughout. Nothing is ever uploaded before, during, or after a clean, and we never receive a list of what you removed.

Children

Vast is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, of any age, because the app collects none.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
